Creating a Unique Learning Environment for Our Children

Having spent two years as a teacher in a public school, I realized that I was uncomfortable with the educational environment in which my children would eventually find themselves. This realization led me to seek an alternative approach to learning that would liberate children from the confines of a traditional classroom setting.

One particular day, during a Health class session with my 6th-grade students discussing puberty, a student highlighted the decline in creativity as individuals mature. This observation prompted a deep conversation about how children possess boundless creativity and imagination in contrast to the constraints imposed by societal norms as they grow older.

The dialogue with the student made me acutely aware of the limitations in the conventional educational system, namely the lack of freedom, flexibility, creativity, and authentic learning experiences. This realization underscored the importance of providing children with a more organic learning environment that allows them space to blossom into their true selves.

It became clear that traditional schooling often directs individuals towards a path of uncertainty post-graduation, where many find themselves lost without clear direction due to a lack of autonomy in their learning journey.
